About BelWeather

BelWeather Design was founded in 2008 by Matt Belconis after spending several years as a private sector consultant. Our goal was to create a shop that meets the web development needs of non-profits that don't necessarily have the resources to employ a regular technology staff. Matt has been in the technology industry since 2005 and has been working with next generation web technologies since the advent of Web 2.0 in 2007. His experience working directly with nationwide organizations and local CBO's has given him insight into the unique challenges faced by both member and community driven nonprofits.

Technical Expertise

Initially, BelWeather focused on designing, installing, and maintaining Joomla based websites, however, as our technical expertise grew, so did our offerings. BelWeather is now primarily focused on object oriented PHP and MySQL based web development, particularly back-end applications such as reporting systems and traffic analysis. BelWeather also offers site maintenance and content management/curating services. We also offer .NET development services for clients that are seeking an alternative to open source technologies.

BelWeather Introduces .NET!!

BelWeather is bringing the power of the Microsoft .NET application development to the people. Due to client demand, BelWeather will be certified in Microsoft's ADO.NET framework and offer it as an option to customers who require Microsoft framework integration. This technology has greatly expanded what BelWeather can offer.

Some of the more exciting developments from our expanded capacity include:

Custom Windows-based application development. BelWeather can design custom applications for your organization that will install just like any other Windows program on your desktop.
Expanded Secure web services offerings. BelWeather can now create the highest quailty secure web portals so your organization to share sensitive data over the web safely and securely.
Even more database integration. We've always integrated database functionality into our product line, but now we're bringing it to a whole new level with the ADO.NET framework. We can now work with virtually any database system - seamlessly.

We hope you're as excited about this as we are. Matt can't wait to formally roll out this offering, which is why we're letting you know immediately. For those of you who are Open-Source purists - don't worry, we're still very active in open source development. However, we are about helping Non-Profits, first and formost, and our mission demands that we support customers who require Microsoft compatible solutions.

Why Non-Profits?

Why does BelWeather Design focus on working with Non-Profits? The short answer is because it makes Matt feel better about how his work is used. The long answer is that throughout his consulting career, Matt noticed that many organizations were severely understaffed when it came to technical resources due to unique factors in the non-profit sector. Furthermore, he noticed a clear lack of understanding between for-profit consultants and non-profit managers in terms of organizational goals and methods of achieving them.
